The G2 road test is the first road test in Ontario's graduated licensing system, and it focuses on everyday city and residential driving. Below is the actual G2 road test route from the Windsor DriveTest centre at 2470 Dougall Avenue, plus the G2 route at the Chatham DriveTest centre. Watch the walkthrough for your centre, then practise it until the turns, lane positioning, and parking feel automatic. These are the same streets examiners use to score your drive.

What the Windsor G2 route covers

The Windsor G2 route stays on the city and residential streets around the Dougall Avenue centre. Expect controlled and uncontrolled intersections, lane changes on multi-lane roads, a roadside (curb) stop, and either parallel parking or a three-point turn. The Chatham G2 route is shorter and generally quieter, which is why many Windsor-area drivers choose to test there.

Common G2 fail points

  • Rolling through a stop sign instead of coming to a full stop
  • Forgetting to shoulder-check before lane changes and turns
  • Wide or cut turns that cross the centre line
  • Touching the curb on parallel parking or the roadside stop
  • Hesitating too long or driving well under the speed limit

Test centre locations: Windsor DriveTest, 2470 Dougall Avenue, Windsor, ON. Chatham DriveTest, 171 Keil Drive South, Chatham, ON.
