The G2 road test is the first road test in Ontario's graduated licensing system, and it focuses on everyday city and residential driving. Below are the actual G2 road test routes from the Windsor DriveTest centre at 2470 Dougall Avenue, plus the G2 route at the Chatham DriveTest centre. Watch the walkthrough for your centre, then practice the routes until the turns, lane positioning, and parking feel automatic. These are the same streets examiners use to score your drive.

January, February, March, May, July, September, November and December: Parallel parking on York Street stays the same all year. On the way back along Hanna Street you have a clearer view at the stop signs at Church Street and Dougall Avenue.
April, June, August and October: Parallel parking on York Street stays the same all year. On the way back along Hanna Street, cars park on your right at the stop signs at Church Street and Dougall Avenue, so it's harder to see.Instructor tip: At both stop signs, come to a full stop at the stop line, or before the crosswalk if there isn't one. Then creep forward slowly until you can see past the parked cars. If a car is coming, stop and wait until it's safe. Only then go straight through Church Street, or turn right onto Dougall Avenue. Rolling through a stop sign is an automatic fail.
January, February, March, May, July, September, November and December: Cars park on the right side of Foch Avenue going in, so you parallel park on Foch first, then pull over and do the 3-point turn on Mercer.
April, June, August and October: Cars park on the left side of Foch Avenue going in, so you pull over and do the 3-point turn on Mercer first, then parallel park on Foch on the way back.
January, February, March, May, July, September, November and December: Cars park on the right side of Louis Avenue going in, so you parallel park first, then pull over and do the 3-point turn.
April, June, August and October: Cars park on the left side of Louis Avenue going in, so you pull over and do the 3-point turn first, then parallel park on the way back out.
Many streets on these routes have alternate-side parking. One side is no parking in April, June, August and October, the other side the rest of the year, and the signs switch at 9 a.m. on the 1st of the month. Where the parked cars sit decides where you can parallel park, so on Routes 2 and 3 the parking and the pull-over swap places. On Route 1 it changes how much you can see at the stop signs on Hanna Street. The steps above always show this month’s order.
The Windsor G2 routes stay on the city and residential streets around the Dougall Avenue centre. Expect controlled and uncontrolled intersections, lane changes on multi-lane roads, an emergency pull-over (the roadside stop), parallel parking and a 3-point turn. The Chatham G2 route is shorter and generally quieter, which is why many Windsor-area drivers choose to test there.
