"How much does it cost to learn to drive?" is one of the first questions every new driver and parent asks, and the answers online are frustratingly vague. So here's a transparent 2026 breakdown of what driving lessons actually cost in Windsor, what you're paying for, the extra fees people forget, and how to keep the total down.
"Driving lessons" can mean a few different things, and that's why prices look so different from school to school. There are really four buckets:
Comparing schools only works when you compare the same bucket. A "$300 course" that's only theory is not cheaper than a "$425 course" that includes 10 hours of in-car training.
Here's exactly what we charge at Rajput Driving School in Windsor & LaSalle, no hidden fees:

| MTO-Approved BDE Course Most Popular | 10 hrs 1-on-1 in-car + 30 hrs online/classroom | |

| Defensive Driving | 5–6 hrs online theory + 1–2 hrs in-car | |

Your driving-school fee isn't the whole picture. Budget for these too:

Usually not. Your first G2 road test fee is included in your initial G1 licensing payment to DriveTest, but renting a car to take the test is a separate cost. Our road-test car rental is $90.
For most new drivers, yes. You take your road test 4 months sooner, can earn an insurance discount that offsets much of the cost, and get a structured 40-hour program instead of a few scattered lessons.
